If there?s one thing we learned about the Dallas Cowboys this season, it?s that they are a tough group. Dez Bryant played through a fractured finger, Jason Witten played through a dangerous spleen injury and DeMarcus Ware battled through just about any injury you can imagine. He played the entire season with a hamstring problem, a neck problem and near the end of the season Ware was playing with one arm because of elbow and shoulder issues.
One of those injuries will be fixed on Thursday?when Ware will have surgery to repair a torn labrum in his right shoulder. Ware said he expects to be ready for training camp.
Count me as one of the people worried about the time frame for Ware?s return. Teammate?Mike Jenkins had shoulder surgery last off-season as well and he began the year on the PUP list so there is no guarantee that Ware will be ready for training camp. It wouldn?t be the worst thing in the world if Ware couldn?t fully participate in camp because he?s older and he knows how to prepare for the season. However, I do worry about how Ware will be physically without a full off-season in the Cowboys?training program.
I?m not trying to compare Ware and Jenkins? surgeries but major injuries that take a long time to recover from are always worrisome. No one knows how Ware?s?shoulder will react?or how long it will take for him to be comfortable playing football again but Jenkins??shoulder injury did linger into the season before he was fully healthy again. The Cowboys cannot afford to lose DeMarcus Ware for that amount of time.
If you?re?a Dallas Cowboys fan, you?re fingers should be crossed (except for Dez?Bryant), for Ware?s speedy recovery.
