COMPTON, Calif., May 24, 2012 - Southern California Edison (SCE), one of the founding partners of U.S. EPA's Responsible Appliance Disposal (RAD) Plan and a 2012 ENERGY STAR Sustained Excellence award winner, today reached a national conservation milestone by crushing its one millionth refrigerator. SCE is the 1st utility to achieve the one million mark. The event was held at an Appliance Recycling Centers of America facility that recycles household refrigerators and freezers, using best accessible environmental practices.
As one of EPA's 47 RAD partners, SCE's recycling efforts have avoided emissions of in excess of 177,000 pounds of substances that harm the ozone layer, and about 3.9 million metric tons of carbon dioxide, the equivalent of removing 760,000 cars from the road.

These efforts work to recover and reclaim or destroy ozone-depleting substances from old household appliances, minimizing harmful emissions and keeping recyclables out of landfills. It is illegal to dump a refrigerator in a California landfill.

A few weeks ago Gamestop announced a new business model in which they decided to start taking in trades of tablets and selling Macbooks. Looks like Gamefly took notice and decided to take it a step further and decided to develop their own games for iOS and Android platforms.

Video game rental service GameFly this week announced that it plans to begin publishing iOS and Android games in the upcoming months, and will launch its own Android app store.
In a?statement, GameFly said it plans to launch its App store for Android devices later this fall. It will be called the GameFly GameStore and should be ready for Android phones and tablets by this holiday season.
The company is also looking to partner with iOS and Android game developers. It has set aside a game development fund to work with independent mobile developers that are in the process of making a game, but need more money to publish and promote their titles.
?GameFly is dedicated to giving consumers the best user experience possible, and to be their single destination for console, PC and mobile gaming needs,? Sean Spector, GameFly cofounder and its senior vice president of business development and content, said in a statement. ?We plan to be a leading player in mobile games by launching our retail GameStore for Android and helping to fund mobile developers of all sizes to publish, promote and sell their smartphone and tablet games.?
GameFly is currently accepting proposals from mobile game developers, and expects to publish its first title this summer. The company instructed interested developers to email their submission to:?GameDev@GameFly.com.
The new Android store will complement GameFly?s existing free iOS and Android apps, which feature gaming news, reviews, and let users manage their accounts on the go.

?Hearing the words ?garbage bag? associated with kids bothered me,? he says. ?For me, it?s all about those who can, have a responsibility to take care of those who cannot.?
So Lamer, who is a member of the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence and employed with David Andrew Salon, started A Case for Kids. He collects luggage ? donations of new and used bags ? to give to LGBT foster kids.
